What’s the hype about CBD oil all about? In this article, we explain how hemp oil works, why it’s so valuable for the human body – and what the science says. Enjoy the read!
How does CBD oil work?
Hemp oil stimulates the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the human body. Although this system has not been extensively researched, it is considered the most vital and extensive system for our physical and mental well-being. For example, the ECS controls our brain functions, hormonal system, and immune tissue. U.S. researchers first discovered the endocannabinoid system in the 1990s!
The ECS includes the receptors CB1 and CB2. These receptors are located in the brain, spleen, tonsils, and immune cells, among others. When you consume hemp oil, the cannabinoids dock onto the receptors and affect basic functions of the human body – for example, mood, appetite, sleep, and pain perception. Due to its antioxidant properties, hemp oil can also scavenge free radicals in the body and prevent oxidative stress. This slows down the aging process of the body. Be sure to choose a high-quality organic CBD oil.
Important: Unlike THC, CBD does not have a psychoactive effect! It is legally available, does not put you in a state of intoxication, and is considered a dietary supplement in Germany.

What’s in CBD oil?
CBD oil offers many valuable ingredients that support vital bodily functions:
Cannabinoids
Cannabinoids are the most important ingredients in hemp oil. As already described, they interact with the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body and influence, for example, the brain and nervous system. Besides CBD, CBD oil also offers the cannabinoids CBC, CBDA, CBG, or CBN.
Gamma-linolenic acid
Gamma-linolenic acid has anti-inflammatory, blood pressure regulating, and wound healing effects. Gamma-linolenic acid is especially important for people with skin diseases such as neurodermatitis or psoriasis.
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids
The human body needs fatty acids not only to regenerate and renew cells. Omega fatty acids also play an important role in cell membranes and the cardiovascular system. CBD oil offers omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in an optimal ratio!
Minerals and trace elements
Whether calcium, potassium, sodium, manganese, or copper, CBD oil contains many important minerals and trace elements. CBD oil also offers zinc, phosphorus, iron, and magnesium.
Vitamins
Vitamins are also found in CBD oil from Seriable. For example, vitamin E, which has antioxidant properties, supports the body’s own cells and can prevent diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Or vitamin B1, which affects serotonin levels and can help with depression.
Carotenoids and chlorophyll
Chlorophyll affects cellular respiration and purification of endogenous cells and influences the immune system. Carotenoids slow down skin aging and strengthen cell membranes. In addition, carotenoids can influence the cardiovascular system and cholesterol levels and prevent arteriosclerosis.
What does the science say?
Although research on CBD is still in its infancy, there are already many studies on how CBD works. We have an overview of the most interesting studies:
Hemp oil and cancer
According to various studies, hemp oil can fight tumor cells. For example, an English study published in 2018 examined 110 cancer patients (breast cancer and glioblastoma) who used hemp oil as a therapeutic aid: Hemp oil improved health in 92% of patients! Other studies found positive effects of hemp oil on the following cancers: blood cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, oral cancer, prostate cancer, and pancreatic cancer.
Hemp oil and Alzheimer’s disease
The cannabinoids in hemp oil have neuroprotective properties. For example, one study found that hemp oil can prevent a neurodegenerative process – such a process plays a crucial role in diseases such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. According to an Israeli laboratory study with mice, hemp oil also slows down the degeneration of memory.
